2nd ANNUAL KUTX THE BREAKS SUMMER JAM
August 30, 2019 @ Barracuda
KUTX The Breaks’ mission with Summer Jam is to bring together a group of musicians that do not have a loud voice in the city's music fabric and fans that may not otherwise be together on a typical summer night. Host Aaron Knight, aka Fresh, hopes to "bridge the gap between demographics," allowing concertgoers to find "artists they're unaware of or genres they wouldn't have come out for." Co-host Confucius Jones expands: "For so long in this city, it was like, 'People don't want to hear urban music.' Our showcases prove that's just a lie,".
“KUTX The Breaks’ Inaugural Summer Jam provided Austin’s ever-changing hip-hop scene a bona fide platform for diverse, local artists to gain genuine exposure with Austin’s hip-hop, R&B, and soul lovers.” - Savannah Opre, Austin Chronicle
KUTX The Breaks’ Confucius and Fresh host diversity’s palette. Headlined by acclaimed Austin soul singer Alesia Lani, fellow Austin acts Lesly Reynaga, a bilingual Latina singer-songwriter, funk and hip-hop fusion act Harry Edohoukwa, electro dream pop’s aspiring Prince, Parallelephants, up and coming R&B act Amirah Tye and Venezuelan born, Austin Native DJ/producer Joaqu.n make up the event’s performers. A portion of the show’s proceeds benefit the Boys & Girls Club of Austin and Eden Reforestation Project. – Derek Udensi, Austin Chronicle
Our second project with KUTX’s The Breaks focused on the rising R&B, soul, and funk artists of Austin.
